The Founder’s Story

The founder of the association, Andrejs, grew up in a children’s home. At an early age, he experienced loneliness, difficult life choices, addiction, and imprisonment. God’s grace changed his life, gave him hope, a family, and a new purpose. His personal experience became a calling to be alongside the children who today walk the path he once walked. Thus, “One United Heart of Latvia” was born, so that children in care institutions know they are loved, their lives have value, and they too have hope for a different future.

It is impossible to tell my story without talking about God's grace.

I grew up in an orphanage. At an early age, I experienced what no child should ever have to go through - loneliness, painful choices, and life’s hardships. After leaving the orphanage, I ended up living on the streets, which led to addiction and imprisonment. It felt like my life was lost and that there was no future left.

Yet God found me right where I was. He changed my heart, freed me from addiction, and gave me a new life, hope, and purpose.

Today, God has blessed me with a family, and what I once experienced as a child has become a calling to serve others. That is how "Vienota Latvijas sirds" came to be—so that children growing up in orphanages know they are not alone, that they are loved, and that their lives have value.

I cannot change my past, but with God's help, I can stand by those who are walking the path I once walked myself. My greatest dream is for every child to encounter love, hope, and Jesus Christ—the One who can transform any life.

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away; behold, the new has come."
